The Company
Ordonat is a new digital ecosystem created by one of the largest cleaning companies in Romania: BLAShine. With strong expertise in the cleaning industry, they partnered with Salt & Pepper to transform their operational know-how into a scalable digital product for the wider market.
The Product
Ordonat is the first platform in Romania that digitises the full cleaning experience, allowing clients to book cleanings, select teams, receive real-time updates, and pay securely. Cleaners have their own dedicated mobile interface to manage bookings, communicate with clients and validate their work on-site. A separate web admin portal enables Super Admins to manage cleaning teams, workflows and exception cases across the platform.
Scope and highlights
End-to-end development for mobile apps for both clients and cleaners
Automated pricing and team assignment, considering surface area, cleaning type, team size, and cleaner experience.
Real-time cleaning management system with validation based on geolocation.
Web Admin Portal for Ordonat Team
Multi-role platform supporting clients, cleaners and super admins with distinct interfaces and permissions.
Secure payments and refunds through Stripe, including automated handling for cancellations and exceptions.
Cloud Architecture & Implementation
Design and implementation of a scalable and secure cloud infrastructure using Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to accommodate expected user demand.
Integrated communication features, allowing clients and cleaners to chat directly within the app.

The Challenge
The main challenge of the project was defining and refining the application logic together with the client. Since Ordonat aimed to translate real-world cleaning workflows into a fully digital ecosystem, the team worked side by side with the founders to design every operational scenario, drawing inspiration from well-known delivery and service platforms.
Many of the core behaviours: pricing rules, team assignment, and service validation, were developed collaboratively, evolving as both teams clarified how the digital experience should mirror real operational needs. One concrete example was determining how to confirm that cleaning actually occurs. This led to the implementation of a geolocation-based validation system. From there, the team also designed fallback mechanisms for real-world edge cases.
Through continuous collaboration and iteration, the platform reached a logic model that is both reliable and aligned with how cleaning services operate in practice.
The Process
The Ordonat project began with a Discovery Phase in which the Salt & Pepper team collaborated closely with the founders to understand how their real-world cleaning operations could be transformed into a fully digital ecosystem. Together, we mapped user roles, operational scenarios, and service workflows, setting the foundation for the initial product roadmap. Since the project operated with a reduced budget, the design phase took a pragmatic approach.
Instead of a dedicated UI UX Designer, the Senior Mobile Developer created the app’s interface using Salt & Pepper’s internal design system, guided by early mockups from the client and continuous feedback loops. This allowed the team to move quickly into development while maintaining UI consistency and usability.
The MVP (Minimum Viable Product) was developed over the first three months, covering the core experience: requesting cleanings, automated pricing and team assignment, role management and admin oversight. Once the initial version was delivered, the remaining development focused on refining business logic, adjusting workflows and adding new features as the client clarified how the platform should replicate and scale their service model.
Project management played a key role throughout development. The team worked with daily syncs, refinement sessions, and ongoing communication via Slack and Google Meet. A collaborative decision-making process helped shape the platform’s logic, inspired by patterns in popular service apps. The PM ensured alignment between client expectations and development priorities, guided backlog management and helped maintain clarity as new operational scenarios emerged
Development Process
The development of Ordonat followed a collaborative and pragmatic approach shaped by the project’s evolving operational requirements. After the Discovery phase clarified the core service flows, the team moved into implementation with a development-first mindset.
Without a dedicated UX/UI designer, the Senior Mobile Developer created the app interfaces directly in code using Salt & Pepper’s internal design system. This allowed the team to iterate quickly and adapt the mobile flows as the client refined the business logic. Both the client and cleaner mobile applications were built with React Native and launched simultaneously on iOS and Android.
Development Directions
Client Mobile App
Cleaner Mobile App
Web Admin
Backend & Cloud
Mobile Development
Client Mobile App Development: Built with React Native, the client-facing mobile app enables users to manage the entire cleaning experience in one place, ensuring a smooth, reliable customer experience on both iOS and Android. Key features include:
-Creating cleaning requests based on surface, location, and cleaning type
-Automatic price calculation and team-size recommendations
-Real-time updates on booking status
-In-app payments and refunds through Stripe
-Built-in chat for direct communication with cleaners
-A clear overview of upcoming and past bookings
-Rating and review after the booking for the cleaner
Web Admin
The web admin portal is the central operational tool used by the Super Admins: the Ordonat Team. It provides full visibility and control over everything happening on the platform, ensuring that all cleaning services run smoothly and reliably. This portal acts as the backbone of Ordonat’s ecosystem, enabling the internal team to coordinate activity, maintain reliability, and support the platform at scale. Through the portal, the Ordonat Team can:
– Manage cleaner accounts, including role creation and access rights.
-Assign cleaners, ensuring proper coverage and optimised response times.
-Monitor all bookings and service statuses in real time, with a clear overview of ongoing and upcoming cleanings
-Handle operational exceptions when cleaners face device or location permission issues.
-Assist clients and cleaners via support tools, offering fast problem resolution and operational continuity.
Cleaner Mobile App Development
Built with React Native, the cleaner-facing mobile app supports the cleaners’ perspective in this system. All the cleaners’ roles use the same core operational workflow designed to ensure that every booking is executed accurately and transparently. The app streamlines the entire cleaning process through features such as:
– Receiving and managing assigned bookings, with clear details about location, surface area, and service expectations.
– Validation cleaning logic, activated only when the cleaner is within a geolocation radius.
– Integrated chat for real-time communication with clients regarding access, instructions, or scheduling.
– Access to checklists and workflow requirements on what the cleaning includes and how the service should be executed.
Cloud & Backend
The backend and cloud layer connect all parts of the Ordonat ecosystem and power the platform’s core business logic. Built with Node.js, Next.js, and a PostgreSQL relational database, it ensures that workflows run reliably across both mobile and web applications. This direction focused on:
-Implementing pricing rules, booking flows, team assignment, and core operational logic.
-Managing roles, permissions, and system behavior for clients, cleaners, and the Ordonat Super Admin team.
-Running the platform on a cloud-based infrastructure, designed for stability, availability, and consistent performance in production.
-Supporting smooth deployments, monitoring, and operational visibility to ensure the platform remains reliable as usage grows.
The Outcome
Ordonat was first released as a Friends & Family version, allowing the team to validate core workflows with real users and gather early feedback from cleaning teams and clients. After this initial phase, the platform evolved steadily into a public release, now supporting multiple cleaning partners that use the app as part of their daily operations in Cluj-Napoca ( for now :) )
The product has become the foundation of a new digital business model for the Ordonat team, one in which cleaning partners join the platform, operate through their assigned roles and generate revenue while Ordonat earns a commission. This creates a scalable digital platform that extends far beyond the founders’ original cleaning company and opens the door for broader expansion.
Following launch, Salt & Pepper continued to support the platform through long-term maintenance, stability improvements, and automated end-to-end testing. The collaboration remains strong, with the client valuing the team’s dedication and adaptability throughout the entire development journey.
